My motto for this trip is 'See food and eat it, see a sight and shoot it'.
Following will be a brief summation of the fabulous journey and lots of pics.
Started the adventure with a lovely day at Darling Harbour in Sydney with family. On the advice of local librarian, the excellent KrazyKat I bought a travelling companion, the cute Lolli as an aid to remembering to take pictures.
FEM (flop eared mule) very kindly took me to the airport and tried to calm me down, not in the least afraid of flying but have a bit of an airport phobia, any way all went well.
Plane delayed at Nadi, Fiji so Lolli reminded me to take first photo's.

Arrived in LA two hours late to find patient Coz waiting, we went to the Vibe Motel on Hollywood Blvd, great location, and we took a walk to see the sights and find dinner. Feeling tired but all very touristy, lots to look at.

Could see Hollywood sign from motel. that was my main wish, catch up on the studios etc another day maybe.
Next day headed up the coast on Highway 1.
Having cars on the 'wrong' side of the road is weird, but it also means the passenger is on the wrong side as well, kept trying to get into the drivers side, but after a while it almost looks natural. I didn't drive at all on the big trip, but yesterday, Tuesday, Coz and I went out to look at ruins and I had a long drive on the highway and back through busy city traffic and made it!!!
Back to the coast. The scenery is amazing, the coast, sea and sand and inland bare rocky mountains. All very dry, been here a fortnight and only seen a few clouds!.

Stayed the night at San Luis Obispo, Wed 8 Oct
Other things I have noted, light switches are upside down, flick up to activate, down to turn off, prices are shown without tax so have to add, and tipping!
We saw wild sea otters in the sea at Morro Bay.
